The Fountains of Rippingale

Today the old shed/summerhouse was dismantled in the morning – not as simple a job as it could have been as it was built as a frame then clad afterwards – and after lunch half of it was loaded on a trailer and transported to Chris’s allotment ready for erection. Well that was the plan, to be repeated with the second half, but unfortunately we were beaten by one of the heaviest storms we have seen in some time, resulting in the trailer with half a shed winding up on Chris’s drive because we could not get onto his allotment as it was rather soggy . . .

We were all like drowned rats, but I ventured out again to capture some of the attractions of Rippingale – the Fountains.

The one on the left is raw sewage overwhelmed with rainwater pouring into a field at the corner of East Street, and the one on the right is surface water in Station Street near the village hall – in fact if you look behind me to the left you will see Chris’s trailer with half a shed on it . . .

Rippingale is adorned with a selection of these beautiful water-features providing we get enough rain.

ps: the video clip was taken last October to spark Anglian Water into doing something about the problem – that was the third year and we are still waiting now for a cctv inspection of that stretch of sewer.
