Tragedy

I had a much nicer happier picture already before I'd even arrive at work that I was planning on blipping. That was until about lunchtime today when we witness this horrific fire at the nearby Glasgow School of Arts.

Our building is one street away and we can see the Art School through a connecting road. I started to smell smoke and wonder what it was, maybe just some burnt toast from the kitchen? Someone suddenly spotted the fire, massive flames from the top floor with smoke bellowing out the shattered windows. Bad enough but it was later found the fire had started in the basement and travelled all the way up through the entire building!

Thankfully there were no reported injuries but this is a tragic in two regards

1) the students that may have lost some or all of their work. With the degree show a few weeks away a lot of their work will have been on display.
2) this building is a Glasgow landmark haven been designed by Charles Rennie Macintosh. A beautiful building that may now be beyond repair.

A sad day for Glasgow.
