Wanderings & Witterings

Today, I went to see The Great Tapestry of Scotland which is on display in Paisley until the end of this week, then at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh from 1 July until 13 September.

It is described as the world's longest tapestry, with 160 panels depicting Scotland's history. It was embroidered by over 1000 embroiderers from the length and breadth of the country and over 300 miles of thread were used. It is, quite simply, a stunning piece of work and it won't surprise anyone who knows me that I took a lot of photographs at the exhibition.

While there this afternoon I learned of the devastating fire at Glasgow School of Art, so while I sort out my many photos of the display for uploading to Flickr, it seemed appropriate just to post this one as my blip for today.
