at home with an Ivysaurus

First strawberry

(I actually wrote this yesterday- but it seems to have been lost somewhere, ill try and remember what I wrote)

Ivy had her first ever strawberry today! Grown by me in the polytunnel. It had a big hole down the middle where something got there before us, but we cut round this and Ivy had half and I had half. It was delicious. Having tried proper strawberries, she can now have them from the supermarket too. I'm not hopeful of a bumper crop- vine weevils have been spotted on the patch next to ours.

We went to the village hall for soup and sandwiches. Ivy shared Euan's parsnip, chilli and carrot soup and waved a cheese scone about enthusiastically. She so charmed a man at the table behind us that when he left he ruffled her hair (which is starting to grow in and is super ruffelable) and left a fiver for her piggy bank.

We're starting to try to teach Ivy to sign please when she wants something- using a double clap (because we know she's good at clapping now). She wanted Euan's glasses to play with, and in her desperation to get them she attempted to use every possible way she knows to say PLEEEAASEE. She was clapping, signing for milk and smiling. He gave it to her in the end- becuase we figured it was more important to enforce please than to start working on 'no'
