Le matin après..

La nuit avant!!

What a party! Service at 4 pm which ended at 6. Then to the garden of the chateau for 'cocktails' which consisted of copious quantities of champagne and four open tents each serving stupendous canapés. Jamon and shavings of Parmesan in one, the next all things fishy another cold soups in cornet shaped cups with straws and scrambled eggs with caviar served in a topped egg shell and so much more!. Not much was handed round so you had to wander from one tent to another. Outside they had strawberries made into spheres with skewers and attached to interestingly shaped pieces of tree branch (rather like bonsai trees!) . Then into an enormous circus type tent and 400 people sat down to a 3 course dinner accompanied by about 10 speeches!!! Each course took an hour and a half so dessert didn't appear till midnight! Then the dancing began and continued till 6am. The bride and groom not leaving the party until the very end!! For those of us who managed to get up for breakfast this is what we found. The hotel owner collected the bread early from the baker and told us that two Scotsmen in kilts had stumbled into the shop asking for directions to his hotel at around 6am!!! Uh oh!! Yes it was true!! Turns out it was only one kilted scot though which begs the question ... who had been drinking??
Brunch was served back at the chateau where we bid goodbye to all the family and friends before setting off on 4 hour drive to catch the ferry home. Looking forward to bed tonight!!!
