The Outside of the Roof

Today was fortunately dry, so I was able to go into Bishop’s Stortford and purchase a piece of wood as a batten, since the builder had used the pieces of wood that I had, as markers, when the concrete was poured and return to fit the batten before it rained again. The batten has been screwed to the house wall so that it holds the tarpaulin clamed against the house wall, but without making any additional holes in the tarpaulin, this should stop the rain from penetrating into the kitchen, as it falls against the wall of the house.

Today’s picture shows the tarpaulin with a batten running up the left side of the roof adjacent to the wall of the house. The batten along the top of the roof and projecting out beyond it was fitted by the builder, who failed to fit the tarpaulin over the entire roof adequately to take account of the current weather.
