transport

Wet this morning so we took ourselves off down to the Transport Museum in Glasgow. I used to love this place as a child with the trains, trams, cars, motorbikes and all pervasive smell of grease. A few years ago they moved from the Kelvin Hall location to a new building off the Clydeside Expressway, the Riverside Museum, and this was my first visit since the move.

They've managed the move brilliantly: the old favourites are still there but they've made the displays more informative and accessible including crawlspaces below display cabinets and cars with little hemispherical windows to allow children (and adults...) to look up/under/into.

By the end of the afternoon the sun was out so we wandered out to look at the barque Glenlee, moored just out the back.

Lovely building; from certain points inside it appears like a cathedral to transport, or perhaps the roofline is supposed to suggest the factories that produced these great industrial machines.

Well worth a look!
