Redwing in flight

OK. Not great quality, but this was the most common bird-related sight today.

The whole of the Water of Leith was frozen along my usual walk, and most of the waterbirds had disappeared. The robin was still about, of course. Quite a few of these redwings (Turdus iliacus) have arrived for the winter, but they are quite shy, the closest you get is when they fly past. Happily, with the DSLR there is a viewfinder, so I could follow their flight.

Loads of photographers out by the river today (including Acronymphomania? If you were the guy with the gorillapod, I was the man in the silly hat with earflaps :)
