View from the Walled Garden

This afternoon I had to go over to the House of Art Lover and while I was there I managed to take a few shots of the House from the entrance to the Walled Garden. The house and garden looked beautiful today in the sunshine.

Tomorrow our hectic week begins with the funeral of George Devlin at the Mackintosh Church. George was one of the best British landscape painters of the modern era.

On Thursday we have the preview of Life’s Little Ironies Gallery, Whithorn, presents Galloway Artisans, a selling exhibition of artists and makers based in Galloway. This is a unique opportunity to see and buy work created by artists that have all been chosen for the high quality and creativity of their work and some have exhibited in this year’s Spring Fling Arts Festival.

Our AGM weekend begins on Friday with a drinks reception at the Willow Tea Rooms.

On Saturday evening we have a special performance of Deco Diva. Actress and Painter, Kara Wilson, recreates the Polish artist, Tamara de Lempicka, the glamorous and decadent Art Deco legend of 1930’s Paris. She paints a portrait whilst giving a glimpse into Tamara’s life and times. Songs from the period combine with action to create a magical occasion in this very special one woman show which pays tribute to a great talent and provides a rare mixture of the arts for the diversion of the audience who have the unique opportunity to buy the painting at the end of the evening. She has appeared in many plays and feature films and innumerable television programmes, including ‘Once In Every Lifetime’ in which she starred opposite her husband Tom Conti. Our host for the evening will be Eric Knowles. Eric is well known to most people interested in antiques and the decorative arts as the expert on the BBC’s ‘Antique’s Road Show’.

On Sunday we have arranged a special study tour to see the fabulous stained glass windows at the Old West Kirk in Greenock and then a tour of the beautiful Quarriers Village.

I am not sure I will be able to respond to your Journals in the next few days. Will be in touch soon.
