Smile - you're out of gas

We didn’t get away too early this morning, waiting for our floor-strippers to arrive. How the cats are going to enjoy this, I’m not too sure.

Forgetting the long road trip last weekend, it never crossed the driver’s mind (he/she shall be nameless) to check the petrol. Just as we started up the hill, the car coughed gently and we had to drift over to the side. Luckily the other cars gave way and we wound up by the SOS phone – where to our immense surprise, we found the caretaker for a place near us up the hill. Some 40 miles away from home. What are the odds?

Initial optimism was misplaced – he was in trouble too, his car 2 km further up with a puncture and a flat spare. Luckily, again, it’s a toll road, and the concessionaire provides a free pick-up service.

Ah well, a lovely day and good company. Gerson is an ex-circus clown and a tremendous character, with a small frame, a massive voice and endless tales to tell. He holds HH in high esteem, as he credits him with saving his life once by driving him to hospital after he’d been bitten by a snake (but not before Gerson had taken a shower and changed his clothes, far more important than surviving. HH was waiting in the car and couldn’t understand the delay).

While the men batted the breeze, I wandered into a particularly nice shop across the way. Seeing these coffee cups, I knew I had to blip them for Lucia13.
