For the Fallen

Today we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings when the allied troops stormed the Normandy beaches and began the fight to regain Europe. Many young men never made it off the beaches as they gave their lives so that we could live in peace and freedom. These poppies are my personal tribute to them posted with thanks for their ultimate sacrifice.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

From Laurence Binyon's poem, For the Fallen
