T.G.I. Friday!

I made a relaxing start to the weekend by stopping off for a wander along the River Chess on my way home from work this evening. The whole sundown duck family were out enjoying the mild weather, and this time Daddy mallard obliged with a fetching pose for the camera. The four juveniles are so endearing, still far less shy than their parents. As I walked they swam alongside me, and whenever I stopped they came over to the riverbank all nosy and inquisitive.

As I write, I'm being serenaded by our regular song thrush outside the window. So good to be home on a Friday evening.
