The power of love

Mr A has been head over heels with a car he saw on eBay a couple of weeks ago; a 1986 vauxhall cavalier convertible.

His first ever car was a cavalier so it was a blast from his boy racer past.

Due to it's age, it's classed as a 'classic' car so insurance wasn't bad. The price was seemingly reasonable too. The website said it was in immaculate condition and the photos of it looked fab!

The only problem was it was in Snaith, Yorkshire.

Since the weather was so naff today and we'd nothing planned, we decided to have a drive over to see the car, with a view to buying it, if it was as good as it looked.

Snaith itself was like a ghost town! We wanted to get lunch when we arrived but it took 3 attempts in different pubs to finally find food.

The car showroom was a short walk from the pub so we ventured down and scoured the forecourt....no sign of the cavalier.

Mr A eventually spotted it in the workshop so we went in to have a look.....oh dear!
The bodywork needed some attention, the canvas roof didn't fit properly; the drivers door had dropped and the glass on the passenger side window was missing.

We were told that the car had been sold earlier this week and the gentleman that had bought it had broken the window trying to climb out of the back seat! Oops!!

Mr A wasn't too downhearted; I think it would have been worse to find it in mint condition and sold.

On our way back, we stopped off to have a look at the cooling towers of Eggborough Power Station. They are huge!

We arrived home to find a letter from Hull council; they have overturned the parking fine from a couple of weeks ago 'as a gesture of goodwill'. Erm, no...we weren't parked illegally so we shouldn't have been fined in the first place, but at least we don't have to pay.
