Tynemouth Flea Market

Tynemouth Flea Market

It was a very warm day, a little overcast, but a good opportunity to get out and walk up the mouth of the river Tyne. This is the traditional market at Tynemouth metro station which is full of people browsing, haggling, watching, eating and just generally 'mooching about' on a lazy Sunday morning in June.

We were tempted with the cheeses, sausages and pies, but ended up buying a book. It is the archetypal place to make lots of 'flippant' purchases. We also saw a dog nearly reach its demise in front of a car, 2 fish being caught by anglers, some people scattering (illegally!) ashes at the end of Tynemouth Pier, a million people scoffing fish and chips, and an ancient Galleon sailing somewhere down the coast.

This picture captures the mood. The singer/guitarist was really good, and who on earth is the elegantly dressed gent standing to his left?

So everything except fleas basically !
