Rice planting

Most Japanese rice farmers practice a style of rice planting different than other parts of the world. They grow the seedlings outside of the fields and when they get to a certain size they put them in the fields. It takes more time and care to do it this way but it allows for a better crop.
Some farmers in third-world countries tried this, but because it is requires more time, they discovered the increase in crop wasn't worth the time they could have otherwise spent doing other jobs. Interesting.
