Chapel Bridge, Lucerne

Backblip

We arrived in the early morning at our final port of call on the cruise, Basel in Switzerland and left on coaches at 8.30 am for a long day's excursion to Lucerne and Interlaken, travelling through the spectacular Bernese Oberland.

The weather was hot, hot, hot and the blue skies made everything look even more wonderful. Our first stop was Lucerne, with the River Reuss on one side of the road spanned by its very famous Chapel Bridge and the Lake of Lucerne on the other, surrounded by high snow-capped peaks. It couldn't be more beautiful:-) We have visited here before, but you can never get enough of such a lovely town.

After eating a packed lunch (the least successful meal of the entire trip!), we set off again for Interlaken and the stunning views of the Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger mountains that you catch glimpses of on the way. It was a day for sitting in a café to relax and watch the paragliders skim the sides of the mountains as they descended to the park in the centre of the town. The drive back to the ship was no less spectacular, passing the mineral-rich turquoise waters of Lake Brienz and stopping for a photo opportunity high above another beautiful lake. I do love Switzerland:-)

Hard to believe that this is our last full day on holiday, as we fly home tomorrow. Boo hoo:-(
