St Mark's College

Tonight was our last session at St Mark's, looking at participation & teamwork. This has been a good group to work with, grounded in practical ministry that fits their local context. The picture shows one of tonight's tasks, "the great egg drop!"

St. Mark’s College is built on the site of almshouses that were attached to a hospital, part of a Benedictine abbey that once existed here. The college is a Grade 1 listed building in Saffron Walden, opposite Audley End. The plan of the college, with 2 courts separated by the hall and chapel, mirrors that of Wadham College, Oxford. The buildings were almshouses used mainly for estate workers. After restoration in 1948-51 they were used to house retired clergy. It is now a youth and conference centre.
