Nutbourne Vineyard, West Sussex

Visit to Nutbourne Vineyard this afternoon. We both like English wines but they tend to be a bit expensive for every day, so it's an occasional treat. Plus we are trying to get a wine buff friend of ours to favour English Wines and do our bit for Sussex.

These grapes are Pinot Noir and won't be ready for about 3 months yet. The tasting room and shop are in the windmill, very atmospheric and lovely. Harvey had tastes of all their latest wines, while I, being the designated driver still, after his cataract operation, had just a taste of the Nutty Brut. “Fresh, biscuit colour, slight pink tinge from Pinot Noir. Pinot, Chardonnay and Reichensteiner grapes. Off dry and fruity.” Well in my parlance, it was delicious.
