90 days to go

I spent the morning in New Lanark with teaching union and parent representatives discussing how we could work together on the attainment and poverty agenda to benefit the children who need it most.

On the way back to Edinburgh at lunchtime we came upon the famous "Five Sisters" , a testament to the importance of the shale oil industry in this part of Scotland and to the resilience of nature as they are now a protected, rich habitat.

This afternoon in addition to some media bids to talk about the positives in Scottish education and the progress pupils , teachers and parents are making I was interviewed by Newsweek for a feature piece on the Referendum and held my last meeting with the College Regional Leads who, as fully appointed Regional Chairs are now taking forward the reformed FE sector. In future I will engage with them through a re-vitalised Colleges Scotland organisation.

Finally I had a three hour journey home during which I hardly glanced up from the box of papers I had to work my way through.
