Rusting Away

Over the past year or so I have periodically visited the old Zig Zag Railway and provoked some interesting discussions about its future. I heard an informative interview with the Zig Zag CEO on ABC radio the other day. It pleases me not at all to report that the chances of re-starting the operation are now more distant than ever. The fundamental problems which beset the railway, when it was forced to close some years ago, have been made immeasurably worse by last October's fires and the resulting financial hurdles that further accumulate daily.

On one siding an old steam locomotive is rusting literally to pieces. It is a tragic thing for train fanciers to see but it remains a fascinating photographic subject just the same.
