Ready to Race

Tomorrow sees the running of one of the biggest yacht races in the world- the Isle of Wight Round the Island race.

Starting at 0600 at Cowes and running anticlockwise to complete a circumnavigation of the Island a fleet of over 1,500 yachts manned by 16,ooo sailors create one of the most spectacular sporting events in the world.

I will be joining the thousands of spectators who view from vantage points all around the course and hope to be at the Needles where there could be quite a yacht jam due to the light winds forecast.

It will be a busy day as the Steam Railway is running a Summer Solstice programme until late in the evening which I am hoping to photograph. Watch this space.
