hoverfly

After my (in polite terms) insect identification blunder in a recent blip I have consulted the Guide to British Insects to confirm that this is a hoverfly.

I didn't feel up to a walk today (not even a short one) but there were plenty of jobs in the house and garden to keep me busy. I noticed 2 bees on these flowers and thought it would be easy to get a shot of them. Wrong. I took loads of photos but not many were sharp. Glad the hoverfly ones were better. Decided against cropping this as the flower is so colourful
