African solstice...

The solstice, combined with today's glorious weather, meant that the Africa Oyé festival in Sefton Park was the only place to be!

As ever at this great annual event, there was a happy and truly diverse audience in attendance to dance, hang out around barbecues, meet up with friends old and new and celebrate the music of Africa and its diaspora. This reveller really sums up the mood of the festival for me - I don't think she stopped dancing all day!

We spent the day bumping into friends, listening to some great music and catching up with Spokes' sister and nephews who are over from Wales for the weekend. We'll be doing exactly the same tomorrow!

It's hard to believe it's been a year since I was last here!
