Calm

A morning dog-walk provided a few moments of calm in a fairly hectic day of party preparation, cooking and tidying. Our new cooker was finally installed - we had been going to have it installed by John Lewis but had been told our wiring wasn't suitable, so arranged for our lovely local electrician to come and do it. In the end it was compatible with what we had (as I thought), so everyone's time was wasted. Amazingly the electrician wouldn't charge us anything despite having made two visits.

The best bit of the day was rediscovering my love of fabric dying. The party is fancy-dress, themed around forests and nature. I'd decided to go as a waterfall, so dyed an old sheet in shades of blue and green using a shibori technique to give the appearance of flowing water. It worked remarkably well, though I've now got to decide how to wear it!
