The old tug

Near where I sometimes go for car photoshoots, there is this stately old tug, the Kent. It was once the equivalent of a classic car 'barn find', in a sorry state with years of corrosion. All credit to the South Eastern Tug Society, who bought the tired old boat from its previous owner for just £1, on the promise of restoring and preserving her.

That was back in the 1990s. Four years of hard work by SETS member volunteers brought her back into the wonderful condition she is in today. Since restoration she has attended Thames regattas and events as far afield as St Malo and Rotterdam. I think her solid old hull, moored in Chatham dockyard, looks wonderful against the sailing boats and modern buildings nearby.
