Viper's bugloss

A series of unconnected events took me up to Hutton's section at Salisbury Crags. There were great stands of this viper's bugloss, alive with bees (I think this is the bottom of an Early, Bombus pratorum.
I was struck by the way the red buds become flowers of the bluest blue...

I didn't get the shot that I wanted of the geology though :(
