Just Great

Some days, when the blip you had planned turns out to be a non-starter, it's great to have so many lovely and confiding birds in the garden, especially the fledglings who learn to feed before they learn fear. I did a few jobs at home this morning, and and planned to go for a bit of a walk locally to see if there were ant butterflies around, but around lunchtime, the temperature dropped and the rain came in. This Great Tit flew in for a spot of tiffin and posed nicely atop the feeder.
This evening, we went to a joint presentation at the local museum of the Wildlife Trust and the Museum to launch a new installation about a large woodland not too far from us, where there are plans to develop it from tired plantation to an area of more open native woodland and heath, and develop amenities for visitors.
