'Here comes the sun'

Does anyone remember watching the ' Holiday' programme that used to be on a Sunday after noon in the Winter ? I remember watching it , eating crumpets, but I do nt remember them ever going to Orkney !

Well the sun certainly came out today and after a lazy morning we went down to The sands of Wright just down the road from where we are staying on South Ronaldsay. The tide was on it's way creating glorious shades off blue against the white sands. We had the beach to ourselves for the majority of the time and we sat and watched the fulmars on their nests and a few ringed plovers in the rock pools.A butterfly even flew past over the water. A few jellyfish had been washed up. I found a few bits of coloured pottery and several pretty shells to add to my collection.

After an icecream from the Hoxa tearoom (glad we did nt go in as it was full of noisy teachers :)) we had a quiet walk down to the shore. The burn was full of for-get-me-nots and again more orchids. One seal popped up to say hello. Found a few heart shaped stones and we watched a lady from Hoxa tapestries take photos of their latest rug using the rocks as a backdrop.

Back for a very tasty BBQ ,finishing with the Princes rhubarb for pud !
