Bridge on the River Wye

Following on from yesterday's Magnificent Severn there could only be one subject today.

We visited Chepstow and its beautifully maintained castle this morning. At lunchtime, we made our way along the bank of the Wye to find somewhere to eat our baguettes, and came across a clutch of twitchers equipped with massive lenses and telescopes. They told us we had just missed a mum and dad peregrine falcon along with their young offspring, having a feeding lesson over the river. We could see the nest with the female in it on the cliff on the opposite bank (on the English side).

After not seeing the falcon family we then made our way to Tintern Abbey, which is a few miles north of Chepstow, and still on the Wye. The abbey is extremely picturesque and looked lovely in the warm afternoon sun.

Ziggy and Hector are now snoring, worn out with all this sightseeing. I bet they're wondering, "Wye?".
