Poppies with a view

We went over to Deerness today and had a walk at Mull head. We saw The Gloup' a dramatic collapsed sea cave' where swallows were flying to and fro. A couple of Black Guillemots were resting on a ledge.

We walked along the grassy path at the top of the cliffs, keeping our distance. Lots of skylarks flew up as we past. We stopped at the Brough of Deerness and saw plenty of fulmars, guillemots, Cormorants, kittiwakes and razorbills. Did spot a few babies too.

We went down to Newark beach and went for another walk on another sandy beach collecting some colourful bits of pottery, some sea glass , stones and shells.

Popped into Kirkwall to buy the brilliant book Naturally Orkney by Raymond Besant, signed copy,so pleased I managed to get one whilst on Orkney :) Had dinner at Judith Glues and then ,after a rest, we watched the South Ronaldsay and Burray parade. Several very comical decorated floats and a childrens fancy dress competition.
