Shops on Pembridge Road, Notting Hill

Notting Hill is excellent for small, privately owned shops and these are some of them.

These were built as houses in the 1854 when the vast Hall-Radford Estate was developed.

2-26 were built by William & Francis Radford. The Radfords built many houses across London including most of Holland Park. Francis was the architect.

28–34 were built by Henry Gilbert who was also a victualler - a supplier of food and drink to ships.

36–48 were built by William Yeo, son of the master shipbuilder James Yeo.

Pembridge Road is next to the upmarket shopping streets - the Portobello Road and the Ledbury Road.
