Open Gardens- Bridge-of-Allan

Off tomorrow to compete in the World Masters Squash championships in Hong Kong is my friend Maureen Carroll from Dunblane.

A keen gardener, she dropped in this afternoon to see us during our annual Bridge-of-Allan Open gardens.

So I asked her to stand in front of our old fashioned climbing roses.

Maureen, who will be competing in the over 60’s category, tells me that this year they have introduced a new category for men – over 80’s.
(Yes we really are living longer and healthier lives).

Back to Scoltand's Open Gardens-
According to my estimate we got 125 visitors, though there could have been more because at one stage they were coming in so fast I coudn't count them.
Its good to meet people again that are making return visits and are looking to see what changes we have made.

Here’s a wee bit of gossip from yesterday display by the Red Arrows for Armed Forces Day. The squadron leader is an old pupil of Glen Almond, a public school in Perthshire, and they flew on up the glen to do a low pass over his old school.
