St George's

Interesting morning, I was asked to take a service for St George's, based on today's feast day, St Peter & St Paul, with the brief of storytelling & communicating with the increasing number of children and families attending, with little or no church connections. It was quite a surprise to see the vicar, at the end of the service, take hold of a banner from the church and wave it enthusiastically during the closing hymn. The banner is a re-modelling of Jesus welcoming the children from Mark chapter 10. It has a traditional picture of Jesus with a contemporary view of children. Quite a picture of where we need to be.

Then on to meet up with Canon Moses, a friend from Kenya who looked out for our daughter whilst she lived and worked there. Canon Moses, head of St Andrew's Theological College at Kabare, entertained us with tales of marriage in Kenya, where a dowry is paid, continually, to the bride's family. Where did we go wrong?

Kenyan life is quite different from ours, we have much to learn.
