Reaching for the Sky

Dear Diary,

My hops vines seem more prolific than usual this year. Tendrils twist and turn in almost a calligraphic way across the sky. It dies back each winter and grows up to 35 feet during the season. You can almost see it grow! Its sticky stems adhere to the arbors I put there for them to grow on...they also stick to me if I don't keep them trimmed back!

They will produce the seeds much desired by those who make beer but I use them to make sleep pillows. But in the summer it is just fun to watch them grow in all directions.

Growing, stretching, reaching for the sky...
