Orange Hawkweed

I took the GOG to the surgery first thing this morning for his routine blood tests to be taken. Victoria, who has finished school, until September, except for two days when she has to go in to prepare for sixth form visited us. She is going to earn some extra pocket money helping with gardening or whatever other jobs we need help with; there are plenty!

We started on the front borders first thing and something, which I thought would take all day, took just the morning. This afternoon she has been helping the GOG, who is now doing his own journal.

Today I noticed this Orange Hawkweed, Pilosella aurantiaca, growing in the orchard, it first appeared last year and despite all the disruption there were three little patches of it today. They were all just past their best, but I decided that they needed to be recorded for their perseverance under difficult growing conditions.
