Departure

Today we head to Ijmuiden to join the ferry back to Newcastle, but the journey by car is only about an hour so we have time for a last stroll down to the beach.

A glorious day, the wind has dropped a bit compared with recent days. The beach is largely deserted this morning, but no doubt people will arrive in the late afternoon.

Loading the ferry as ever takes a while. We arrived promptly, but first to arrive is not necessarily first on board. We make it finally and having found our cabin adjourn to the Mermaid Bar on the top deck. As it is a warm sunny afternoon this is definitely the popular place to be.

Later we go down for dinner, very good, and then to enjoy the on board entertainer. He was more to our taste than the guy on the way out.
