FIM Rally 2014

Today I had the best lunch date ever! Hubby is enjoying his first day of his summer holiday today and is very cheerful now. I met him and kids in the middle of the workday and we ate salmon hamburgers at Tammela market place, and strawberries for dessert. On the way we watched motorcyclists' Parade of Nations. Guess who honked the most? - Italians. Who honked the less? - Finns.

The international gathering of touring motorcyclists – 69th FIM Rally – is arranged in Tampere, Finland, from 29th of June to 4th of July in 2014. The FIM Rally has been arranged annually since 1936. The rally has taken place in Finland only once before, in 1988 in the City of Kuopio. The International Motorcyclists Federation FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme) has authorized Touring Finlandia Motorcycle Club, a member of the Finnish Motorcyclists Federation, to arrange the event in Finland in the year 2014.

Every year approximately 1000 motorists from more than 30 countries participate in The FIM Rally. The event is also known as the world championships of touring motorcyclists. The program contains registration ceremony with national anthems, day trips to local attractions, folkloristic evening programs and a fantastic Parade of Nations with hundreds of motorcycles, decorated with national and club flags. The aim of this event is to confirm international fellowship of motorcyclists and to introduce local culture. Important themes of the 2014 FIM Rally in Tampere are the beautiful and clean nature of Finland, voluntary work, recycling, collaboration between local educational institutions and companies together with youth associations, for example.
