Gammer Gurton's Needle

Gammer Gurton's Needle is the 20th anniversary touring play by local theatre company Crude Apache and we saw this production in the open air in a small park just round the corner from our house - a perfect way to spend a summer evening at the start of the weekend.

The play is one of the earliest English comedies, written in the 16th century probably by a Master at Christ's College in Cambridge and it pre-dates Shakespeare. This was the first night of their tour, and it was directed by a very talented young woman I met when she and I were doing some singing for the soundtrack of a mutual friend's new theatre production.

Today has been my first horrible day at work - not bad, considering I've been there since mid February - and I think part of the problem was that it was so hot. Anyway, it's the end of the week and there's nothing that can't be resolved.

Busy weekend ahead, which includes a busking gig with the uke society on Sunday afternoon.
