Tree of Life

Went to the curate's ordination in Birmingham Cathedral this morning and then had a few little jobs to do around the city. On my way to the Rag Market (amazing market!) I found this Tree of Life Sculpture. I hadn't noticed it before but it commemorates those who died in the Blitz when Birmingham was bombed so heavily in the Second World War. It's twelve and a half feet high and the hands coming together around the world symbolises the people of the world coming together.

Birmingham was bubbling and buzzing this morning - lots of lively music and lots of people enjoying themselves .
