Five Rise Locks, Bingley

Longish walk (for me) today from Hirst Woods along the canal to the Five Rise Locks in Bingley. This is the lovely café which is welcome after you've climbed the steep slope by the locks, with the Khululeka moored alongside.

The tow path was awash with bicylces rushing by on their way home from something or other, not quite sure what!!!

The five rise locks, in case you don't know, were built in 1774 and allow boats to rise 59ft 2 inches over a distance of 320ft. A phenomenal feat of engineering for that era.
