Learning day by day

Move Together - Move Hitchin

Hitchin held a Dance Festival today called Move Hitchin. As well as showcasing local talent from local schools and dance schools, in odd places like the window of Waterstones and the window of Hawkins, they also had participation workshops in the town square. I didn't see any of these as Carys was taking part in the final dance called Move Together.

This dance was choreographed by a dancer called Sarah Linstra and was aimed at anyone from 7 to 87 from the local community! Some of the dancers had already learnt part of the dance the weekend before but there was still plenty for the others to do and learn.

When we arrived Carys was really uncertain and quite shy. (I think she was worried about it not being ballet and slightly overawed by seeing two of adult dancers warming up.) She was wearing her Russian Ballet School hoodie which got two of the adults talking to her as they do adult ballet with her teacher. After that, and once they got moving, she was totally at ease, dancing with a grin from ear to ear.

She loved every minute, including the performance in the town square. Her smile got bigger when she saw her oldest friend in the audience, all nerves vanished. She bounced all the way home.

William and Daddy meanwhile had had a flying visit to N&P's and then went out for a cycle/walk. Jim tries to walk most days and W loves his bike so both were happy with that arrangement.
