ARCTIC-ALPINE BOTANIC GARDEN IN TROMSØ

We discovered that the botanic garden is just a 15 minutes walk from where we live,
so today we spent some time there.

This is the Botanic garden that is the world's northernmost botanic garden, and I discovered that the blue poppy is a main flower. I bought one to my garden and hope that it will survive the flight and the climate around Oslo.

I'm really impressed, and think this one is just as beautiful - or even more - than Oslo Botanic garden!

From May 15 until July 27, the sun is continuously above the horizon in Tromsø. The two months of midnight sun provide some compensation to the plants for the short growing season and the low temperatures. In the months of May, June and July the average hours of sunshine is about 200 per months. From November 21 until January 17 the sun never rises.
