Le Peloton

I (Annie) had the day off today to go and visit the village I grew up in. It was on the route of a rather special bike race today and it looked like the whole village had turned out to wave it on. After 2.5 hours of high-fiving police motorcyclists, Fruit Shoot lorries and cycle support cars, we finally got to see the first two riders having escaped a few minutes in front of the pack already. This was the main pack, who whooshed past in a few seconds. Amazing to see - even if gone in a flash!

Perhaps the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for the local postman who rode his bike straight up the race route through the village waving at a delighted local crowd.
