A quiet corner

This is a quiet corner in Lenno on one of the routes we can choose in the walk down to the lakeside. At this corner we are close to the lake, but it is not a street much used by most tourists.

We have lunch at one of our favourite bars next to the lake. It is warm and sunny when we arrive. A little later it starts to rain, and then the rain turns to something of a storm. We take shelter under the umbrellas, they should be for sun, but work almost as well for rain. Eventually we decide, like several others, to adjourn to the inside of the bar.

While we are at the bar a water taxi arrives and disgorges an enormous amount of expensive looking luggage, so much luggage there is a van to collect it. Once the luggage has been packed another water taxi arrives with a two ladies completely hidden in burkas. Entirely hidden in a veil of black. There are several chauffeur driven cars to collect them and their entourage. As one of them got into the car I did catch a view of the trousers one of them was wearing under the burka, this suggested she was in fact quite colourfully dressed under the burka. At the bar we were told these were the grand daughters of the Emir of Qatar, they had been staying in a villa nearby.

The rain finally stopped and we were able to return to the apartment to finish packing. In the evening we went back down to the village for a farewell dinner, as the weather was fine were able to sit outside on the piazza.
