Swansong

The canal near my sport centre usually come up trumps when when push comes to shove with a latish blip. Today one swan was sleeping and twirling slowly round in circles while the other kept watch. Then the sleeping swan lifted her head, and just before cruising off I caught the pair looking as if they were checking their reflections, rather as we do, before getting out there and putting a brave face on the world!
