Endings...

Today was Thomas' last day at prep school. He has spent 10 years there, which amounts to a significant part of his life! We have been parents there for 13 years which makes me feel very old, especially when I look at all the new mums of the children in the lower years. The end of an era....the end of a stage of our lives.

After his prize giving this morning - to which parents are not invited, how strange is that? - I fetched him from school and together with all the boys in his year group we went to a friendly pub where the boys had a BBQ lunch organised for them. He was not sad to be leaving prep school but was sad to say goodbye to his friends as they are all going off to different senior schools in the autumn - although I am sure he will see them again soon.

So here we have some cow parsley, also known as wild chervil, wild beaked parsley, keck, or Queen Anne's lace. What has this to do with Thomas leaving school? Nothing, although I did want a photo of him amongst the cow parsley but he was having none of that nonsense today!
