Kentwell Hall

Well, our plans to go to Cambridge today were foiled - I decided that it would be best to use a car park nearer to the Fitzwilliam Museum as it was absolutely pouring with rain, so we tried to make our way round the Ring Road. A. - it was queues all the way, B. - it was totally unclear as to where we should go and we ended up on the road towards Newmarket!! The weather was so utterly foul that we decided staying in the car for longer was the better option(!) so we drove on into Suffolk and decided, on the course of the journey, to go and visit Kentwell Hall in Long Melford. By the time we got there the rain was much less heavy and we had a picnic in the car then headed on in. It was pricey, but gosh, was it worth it - so interesting! If you get the chance to go there, do! It dated from the 1500's and there were masses of interesting rooms, furniture and ornaments to see. You could tell it was well loved by the current owners, who had done marvellous restoration work in a lot of the rooms. By the time we came out of the house it was pouring, so we decided to head on home after a cup of tea. We shall aim to go back there again on another holiday to have a look at the grounds - and another look at the house!
