Sunshine Mimosa

Now who wouldn't like a plant whose name sounds like a Tropical Drink? This is the flower of Mimosa strigillosa, aka. Powderpuff, aka. Sunshine Mimosa. It is a Florida native ground cover and blooms these 'other-worldly' looking flowers. The flower is small, about 1.5" wide and the plant is less than 5" high. I use it as a ground cover in my yard. It spreads quickly and easily and is a host plant for the Little Sulphur Butterfly.

Whenever I see the Sunshine Mimosa bloom, I can't help but smile :)
