A Pleasant Surprise

Spotted several small brown butterflies visiting our native Yellow Lantana this morning. As I shot, I figured that maybe I could crop one of the shots for a nice close look at one of them on a flower. Later when I saw them on my laptop I was really surprised and happy at the beautiful creature that I had originally thought was just a drab brown butterfly.

This is most probably a Female Sleepy Duskywing (Erynnis brizo). There are at least 7 Duskywings native to Florida. They are in the Skipper family. She doesn't have splashy colors or memorable patterns but I think that her velvety chocolate coat is...delicious beautiful!
