Queen's Baton arrives in Kirkwall

We joined crowds around the harbour to see the RNLB Margaret Foster arrive in style with the crew lined up on board. Holding the baton, Graham Campbell, who has just written a book about the lifeboat. He is a long-serving member of the crew.

Interesting to watch all the goings-on surrounding this event. The photographers, press, BBC, film crew, police, coastguard and lifeboat crews. Volunteers handing out flags and wristbands, one lady I spoke to has given up six weeks of her time to help the team move around the country.

Following up on yesterday's entry, I spent time this morning enjoying an exhibition of Gunnie Moberg's portrait photographs in the Kirkwall Library. So glad to catch it, as it was supposed to end a couple of days ago.
